How KUKU剪 collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information

Last updated: November 1, 2026 · Version 2.0

KUKU剪 ("we", "us") operates the kukucut.app website and the accompanying desktop client (together, the "Service"). We respect your privacy and follow a "collect only what the Service needs" principle. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and what rights you have.

By using the Service, you confirm that you have read this Policy. Where the law requires separate consent for sensitive personal information or cross-border transfers, we will ask for it separately.

1. Information We Collect

  • File metadata (name, size, type, upload time);
  • Short-video share links you submit for watermark removal and the parsing results;
  • Task information: task type, source video duration, generated audio duration, and task status.

  • Pages visited, features used, error logs, and performance and security logs.

Communications and subscription information

  • Name, email address, and message submitted through the contact form or by email;
  • Newsletter email address, subscription status, and unsubscribe records;
  • Contact details you provide when reporting content (optional), the reported content, and our handling records.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, SMS or call records, or biometric templates, and we do not buy personal data from third parties or use your information for advertising profiles or cross-site tracking.

2. How We Use Information

  • Provide and maintain the Service: create accounts, upload and process media, and generate subtitles, translations, voiceovers, and final videos;
  • Account and security: authentication, session management, access control, abuse prevention, and fraud detection;
  • Credits and payments: grant, deduct, and refund credits, and handle orders, invoicing, refunds, and billing disputes;
  • Customer support: respond to inquiries and handle reports and appeals;
  • Service improvement: use aggregated or de-identified data to diagnose faults and improve performance and experience;
  • Service notices: verification emails, password resets, security alerts, billing, and credit changes;
  • Product and marketing information (with your consent): feature updates and offers, which you can unsubscribe from at any time;
  • Legal compliance: respond to regulatory and law-enforcement requests and establish and exercise legal rights.

Under PRC law, we process personal information on the bases of contract performance, compliance with legal obligations, legitimate interests, and consent under the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and other applicable laws.

Content you upload may contain sensitive personal information such as faces and voices. We process it only to the extent necessary to provide speech recognition, translation, voiceover, and synthesis, and we require our processors to apply appropriate safeguards. Before uploading content that contains another person's face or voice, you must obtain their explicit consent and must not clone or imitate their voice without permission.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell or rent it to third parties for their own marketing.

To provide the Service, we engage the following categories of service providers to process necessary information on our instructions:

  • Cloud infrastructure and storage: hosting, databases, object storage, caching, logging, and security;
  • Payment and merchant of record: payment processing, invoicing, taxes, refunds, and payment disputes;
  • Email and notifications: verification emails, service notices, contact forms, newsletters, and internal operations notifications;
  • AI model services: speech recognition, subtitle translation and verification, and speech synthesis;
  • Link parsing: parsing the short-video share links you submit to obtain watermark-free video addresses;
  • Open-source audio/video components: server-side audio/video composition and rendering, without generative AI.

We provide only the information necessary for the relevant processing and require processors to act on our instructions and not to use it for their own marketing or model training (unless the law provides otherwise or you separately consent). Where required by law, or if you would like to know the specific processors and the scope of their processing, you may contact us to request that list.

Other sharing:

  • Legal and security requirements: to comply with laws, regulations, judicial or administrative requirements, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of you, us, or others;
  • Business transfers: in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or asset transfer, we may transfer information under equivalent protection and will notify you;
  • With your consent: where you separately consent.

Our payment provider acts as an independent merchant of record for payments, invoicing, taxes, refunds, and payment disputes, and its own privacy policy also applies.

4. International Transfers

We use global cloud, payment, and AI model services, so your information may be stored or processed outside mainland China. Some providers may also process data within mainland China, depending on the features you use and the relevant configuration.

We require overseas processors to provide protection comparable to that in China through contracts, encryption, and access controls, and we will fulfill obligations such as notice, consent, security assessment, or standard contractual clauses as required by law. Where the law requires separate consent, we will obtain it separately.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use a small number of cookies and browser storage:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: login sessions, authentication, security, and load balancing. Disabling them may prevent you from signing in;
  • Functional storage: remembering language preference, theme (dark/light), and sidebar state;
  • We do not use advertising cookies, and we currently do not integrate third-party analytics or advertising tracking SDKs.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect sign-in and some features.

6. Data Security

We apply safeguards proportionate to the risk, including TLS/HTTPS encryption in transit, irreversible password hashing, least-privilege access controls for API keys, restricted internal access, and security logging and review.

If personal information is breached, tampered with, or lost, we will notify you and report to regulators as required by law.

No internet environment is absolutely secure. Please use a strong password, do not share your account or verification codes, and contact us immediately if you notice anything unusual.

7. Retention

We retain information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above:

  • Account and profile: while your account exists; deleted or anonymized within 30 days after account deletion;
  • User content and outputs: until you delete the files or your account; removed from active systems within 30 days, with residual copies in backups and logs retained for no more than 90 days;
  • Credit records: while your account exists, for reconciliation, billing disputes, and abuse prevention; after account deletion, transaction-related records are retained for the statutory period and the rest are deleted or anonymized within 30 days;
  • Payment and transaction records: retained as required by law (for example, the PRC E-Commerce Law requires transaction information to be kept for at least three years after the transaction is completed); our payment provider retains data under its own policy;
  • Support and communication records: 12 months after resolution;
  • Reports and moderation records: 3 years after resolution or the end of the appeal period;
  • Security logs: generally no more than 90 days, or as determined by our cloud provider's log retention;
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe; removed from marketing lists within 30 days after unsubscribing.

After the retention period, we delete or anonymize the information unless the law requires otherwise.

8. Your Rights

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you have the right to be informed, to access and copy, to correct and supplement, to delete, to restrict or object to processing, to withdraw consent, to delete your account, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

You can delete your account in "Settings → Account" or by emailing support@kukucut.app. We will respond within 15 business days after verifying your identity. After account deletion, related data and content may not be recoverable. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

9. Marketing Emails

When you register, we add your email address to our product update and marketing list. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email, in your account settings, or by emailing support@kukucut.app.

Unsubscribing does not affect service notices such as verification emails, password resets, security alerts, billing, and credit changes.

10. Children

The Service is intended for adults aged 18 or older, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we discover such an account or data, we will delete the account and the information.

If you are a guardian and discover that a minor has provided personal information to us, please contact support@kukucut.app and we will handle it promptly.

The Service may contain links to third-party websites, payment pages, or integrations. Those third parties have their own privacy policies, and we do not control their data practices. Please read their privacy policies before providing personal information.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy and post the revised version on this page. We will notify you of material changes through a website notice or email at least 15 days in advance. After the changes take effect, your continued use of the Service means you accept the updated Policy; if you do not agree, you may stop using the Service and delete your account.
